  • 1 baked and cooled quarter sheet cake (such as vanilla sheet cake)
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4 and 1/2 cups (540g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup (70g) fresh blueberries
  • 23 cups (380–560g) halved fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Bake the cake: Start by baking a delicious 9×13-inch quarter sheet cake of your choice. Allow it to cool completely.
  2. Make the frosting: Beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add sugar, cream, and vanilla. Mix until fluffy.
  3. Frost the cake: Use about 2/3 of the frosting to cover the cooled cake.
  4. Decorate: Arrange blueberries and halved strawberries to create the American flag design.
  5. Finish the details: Use piping bags to enhance the design with frosting.
  6. Serve the cake: Slice and serve chilled, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
